The Sunday, January 13 Houston Chronicle Real Estate section featured a spread about the installation of HAR Chairman John Nugent and the entire 2020 HAR leadership team. It included color photos provided by HAR. A separate writeup in that same section reported on the industry honors that HAR bestowed upon Mike Wong as 2019 REALTOR® of the Year and posthumously to the family of Jamie Lynn Gilmore, HAR’s John E. Wolf Community Service Award recipient, for her commitment to promoting cancer research.

In the first of a two-part series, Houston Chronicle real estate columnist Michelle Sandlin interviewed HAR Chairman John Nugent about opportunities awaiting people who will be moving to Houston in the months ahead. The column published on Sunday, January 13, with the second part scheduled to publish a week later, on Sunday, January 20.

Bisnow quoted HAR President and CEO Bob Hale in a January 9 feature about his long and cherished friendship with 1967 HAR President Julio Laguarta, who died on January 3 at the age of 86. Laguarta went on to serve as TAR and later NAR president, also playing a pivotal role in establishment of the esteemed Real Estate Center at Texas A&M.

On January 9, RISMedia announced that three Houstonians made Real Estate Magazine’s 2020 Newsmakers Hall of Fame: Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Gary Greene Managing Partners Marilyn Eiland and Mark Woodroof (as a duo), as well as HAR President and CEO Bob Hale, who were among the 10 industry titans named to the prestigious list. Three hundred people were included on the broader Newsmakers list, which was broken up into the following categories: Achievers, Crusaders, Futurists, Influencers, Inspirations, Luminaries, Trailblazers and Trendsetters.

Houston Agent Magazine announced the swearing-in of HAR’s 2020 leadership team in a January 7 feature written by editor Kerrie Kennedy.

HAR Chairman John Nugent was interviewed by Houston Agent Magazine for its January 6 feature about the value that real estate associations bring to their members in a changing industry.

HAR provided MLS data to Houston Chronicle reporter Darla Guillen Gilthorpe for her January 3 feature titled, “What $3000,000 buys in Houston compared to the suburbs.”

The Houston Chronicle’s Darla Guillen Gilthorpe also turned to HAR for MLS statistics for her December 30 article profiling the most expensive Houston homes sold during the 2010s.

In the final media interview of her term, 2019 HAR Chair Shannon Cobb Evans spoke to Houston Public Media/KUHF 88.7 FM about how home sales performed in 2019 and expectations for 2020. The story aired on December 20, 2019.
