HAR’s September 2023 MLS Market Update reported that Houston home sales were down for an 18th consecutive month with interest rates keeping prospective homebuyers headed toward the rental market or putting their buying plans on hold. The lower sales volume enabled inventory to expand and prices to moderate, creating more buyer-friendly conditions once consumer confidence is restored. HAR Chairman-elect Thomas Mouton authored a column that published in Houston Agent Magazine on November 8 about HAR’s commitment to diversity, equality and inclusion (DEI). Thomas wrote, in part, “Following the 2020 murder of George Floyd, HAR…took a long, hard, deep look at itself, the work of its employees, the way those employees interact with one another as well as their interactions with HAR’s nearly 50,000 Realtor members around Greater Houston and across the state of Texas. Almost immediately, association leadership determined it was time to demonstrate meaningful and measurable commitment to do our part to heal social and cultural differences and expand awareness and understanding.”
