Melissa Etheridge Spoke at Nancy Owens Breast Cancer Foundation’s 17th Annual Luncheon

The Nancy Owens Breast Cancer Foundation hosted its 17th Annual Luncheon on Monday, October 22 at the Hilton Americas-Houston with celebrity guest speaker, Melissa Etheridge. Guests mingled amidst the silent auction items before enjoying a delicious lunch, and listening to Etheridge’s powerful journey of her battle against breast cancer, which received public attention when she performed at The Grammy’s with apparent side effects of her cancer treatment.

The luncheon also featured a special presentation of the Spirit of Courage Award to Wendy Bernstein, a remarkable individual who has won the fight against breast cancer. Wendy proceeded to dedicated and present her Spirit of Courage Award to her oncologist, Dr. Osborne of Baylor College of Medicine. Wendy proudly announced that she is cancer free. The $105,000 proceeds from the luncheon benefitted cancer research in the Houston area through The Lester and Sue Smith Breast Center at Baylor College of Medicine, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and The Department of Nanomedicine at Houston Methodist Research Institute.
