Annual Nancy Owens Memorial Foundation Golf Tournament

On Monday, May 4, a total of 35 teams participated in the Nancy Owens Memorial Foundation Golf Tournament held at the Sweetwater Country Club Golf Course that benefitted the foundation. The event raised over $34,000, which will benefit the foundation’s goal of donations towards finding a cure for breast cancer.

The day commenced with a putting contest sponsored by Susan Butler. An 11:00 AM shotgun start began the 18 holes of golf, which included contests along the way and team photos taken by TK Images Real Estate Photography. Players had a chance to win a Chevrolet Car with a Hole in One sponsored by Classic Chevrolet Sugar Land, along with rounds of golf for longest drive and closest to the pin contests. An awards ceremony dinner with door prizes and raffle items concluded the day.

The Nancy Owens Memorial Foundation was founded in 2002 to honor Nancy Owens, a beloved Realtor, who lost her battle with breast cancer in 2001. To date, the Foundation has raised and donated over $1,400,000 to fund research, education and early detection related to breast cancer. The Nancy Owens Memorial Foundation is organized primarily to fund one or more qualified public charities that support education, care and research for breast cancer and is a 501(c)(3) corporation.

Plans are underway for the 2016 Swing for the Cure golf tournament which will be held in the spring of 2016.
