Sponsored by the Institute for Regional Forecasting at the University of Houston, the Spring Real Estate Symposium is scheduled for Tuesday, May 8, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, 1200 Louisiana, in downtown Houston.

A popular event for many real estate professionals, this year’s luncheon features Ted C. Jones, Ph.D, Senior Vice President and Chief Economist for Stewart Title. His presentation, “Houston: NASA Decelerating, but Economy Rocketing, Lubricated by Oil, Gas, Trade, and Other Accelerants,” is a real estate and economic outlook for 2012. As the name implies, the symposium takes a look at the past, current and future of the area’s economy.  Issues to be discussed include Houston’s new job growth, renewed construction and manufacturing activity, Port of Houston traffic, renting vs. home ownership, energy costs, and the national economy.

Registration opens at 11 a.m.; lunch is served at 11:30 a.m. immediately followed by the program.
