cips_logo_julyThe HAR International program has been in existence for more than 10 years and some members don’t realize their association has global education courses designed to assist them in their real estate careers.

This year, HAR is offering the five-day Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) Institute to earn the CIPS designation, July 28 through August 1, and International Day 101: Think Globally Work Locally on September 4 at the Post Oak Central Conference Center. The International Day course is currently pending MCE approval.

The purpose of the HAR International Advisory Group is to create global educational and networking opportunities for the association’s members. Any interested member can attend the classes offered, simply register online through the HAR Professional Development page, www.har.com/membertraining/.

International Day 101 was offered several years ago and with the recent increase in global investors in Houston the HAR International Advisory Group decided it would be a good time to offer the course again, updated of course.

The day will cover myriad topics, starting with where the Greater Houston area is today demographically and population wise and where it is predicted to be in the future.

The fastest growing counties in our area will be examined as well as major projects possibly including Highway 249 to College Station, Highway 288 from Pearland to Houston and the residential development at Camp Strake.

We are honored to have Dr. Ted C. Jones of Stewart Title as our keynote speaker at lunchtime. Dr. Jones travels extensively and speaks on the economy, he will give us a current economic update of what is going on in our city and state.

After lunch we will delve into who the international buyers in Houston are, where they are coming from as well as why they are interested in investing in our region. We will also examine what types of properties they are most interested in purchasing.

Advice on how to work with various cultures will be presented as well as a special spotlight on Mexico, our neighbor to the immediate south.

Important details such as finding a lender for your foreign client, immigration and tax issues, and the real estate contract will be discussed as well.

An overview of how to attract a niche market and meet your business objectives will finish the day.

We hope you can join us, please plan on attending and if you have any questions, contact Lori Carper at lori@har.com or 713 629 1900 x 275.
