You already know what a great marketing tool HAR.com is for you and your clients’ listings. Did you know that more than one million homes have been sold through HAR.com since its inception? (You probably know if you saw the cover of this magazine before turning to this page…) Nearly $190 BILLION of properties have been sold through HAR.com since 1997. I don’t think any other local public MLS site can make similar claims. Aren’t you glad to be part of an Association that can?  You may read more about it here.

Home sales continue to mark new territory with records each month. One has to ask, “When will it end?” While we don’t see any clouds on the horizon, we do still need more homes to be listed for sale to be able to keep up this pace. Fortunately, it is a great market for both buyers and sellers, as buyers have near historically low interest rates and sellers are seeing prices rise and Days on Market drop. You may read all the stats from March here.

It is only May, but it is already time to consider whether you can imagine yourself as a member of the 2014 HAR Board of Directors. You may read about all of the responsibilities and find the Candidacy Notification Form on pages 16-17. It does require a time commitment, but the reward of knowing that you helped elevate and guide our industry is more than worth it. I encourage anyone thinking about running to fill out the form. You may also talk to me or any current board member if you’d like to talk about what is involved.

Did you know that more than 100,000 members have registered for classes through the HAR Course Finder at www.har.com/edu? We currently have some great courses coming up, including the Social Media Pro designation, GRI and Buying and Selling Businesses for Real Estate Brokers, Salespersons and Others. You may read all about them here…and register for them…you, guessed it, on www.har.com/edu.

Last month, about 2,000 REALTORS® from across the state, including four buses from our area, went to Austin as part of the Texas REALTOR® Lobby Day. It was a great success and offered the opportunity for REALTORS® to speak to our legislators and their staffs about the issues that are important to our industry and to homeowners. You may read about REALTOR® Lobby Day here. Going to Austin was great prep for heading to Washington, D.C. this month to speak to our members of Congress. It is important that our elected leaders hear from us often.
