Election night brought good news to HAR’s 61 recommended candidates and supporters of 8 local ballot initiatives. They all prevailed. HAR had a 100% success rate on its candidate recommendations across an 8-county service area and recommendations on the METRO General Mobility referendum, City of Houston, HISD and HCC bond propositions. A complete list of HAR’s November 6 General Election Recommendation results is available HERE.
*NOTE: HAR Recommended Candidates are listed first within their race. All Local Ballot Initiatives were supported.

The recommendations were made by Houston area REALTOR® volunteers who conducted candidate interviews over several months and met with policymakers and spokespersons on behalf of the ballot propositions.

“Our recommendations went beyond political parties and to the heart of the American Dream – homeownership. I am so proud of our REALTOR® volunteers and their efforts to make sure the men and women we elect have the best interest at heart for area homeowners and the real estate community,” said HAR’s 2012 Political Affairs Advisory Group Chair John Nichols of Prudential Premier Properties. “Although the elections are over, our jobs are not. We now continue our work at City Hall, Commissioners Court, and both the state and U.S. Capitols.”

In regards to the passed local ballot initiatives, A. David Schwarz, III, HAR Governmental Affairs Advisory Group Local Issues Chair and Transwestern VP said, “Houston voters overwhelmingly backed better schools, transportation, and quality of life improvements. As REALTORS®, we know these are fundamental to a healthy real estate market. These public improvements will have a lasting impact on the city and region for generations to come, setting up Houston for continued growth and prosperity.”
