HAR will be offering NAR’s sustainable property designation in February. There are three classes that need to be taken to complete the education requirement for this designation. The class information is listed below.

1. Green 100: Real Estate for a Sustainable Future 

This course will lead students through a exploration of issues and trends in relation to real estate’s role in finding the balance between people, planet, and prosperity. It will help to instill the mindset essential to building a green-focused real estate business. Also, this course will enable students to provide objective information to clients and customers on nationally recognized certifications and rating programs that rate homes, products, energy efficiency, and professionals.

2. Green 200: The Science of Green Building

This course will help to familiarize students with green principles and choices in home design and construction. It will help to raise awareness of innovative materials, systems, and construction methods. Students will learn about energy-efficient systems including onsite power generation. This course will also distinguish levels and cost-benefits of retrofitting, remodeling, or renovating existing homes.

3. Green 200: The Science of Green Building

This course will help students to plan and implement strategies and tactics for building a green real estate business. Agents will learn to adapt their core real estate business skills to list and market green properties and represent green sellers and buyers.
