Senator Ted Cruz defeated his Democratic challenger, Congressman Beto O’Rourke of El Paso, by a three point margin and returns to Washington for a second term.

U. S. House of Representatives

Congressional District 2 – HAR recommended candidate, former Navy SEAL Dan Crenshaw, won handily over Democrat Todd Litton. We thank retiring Congressman Ted Poe for his friendship and support and look forward to working with Congressman-Elect Crenshaw.

Congressional District 7 – Attorney Lizzie Pannill Fletcher defeated nine-term Republican incumbent John Culberson. We thank Congressman Culberson and his talented staff for their service over the years and look forward to working with Congresswoman-Elect Fletcher and her team as we transition to the 116th Congress.

Congressional District 29 – Voters overwhelming agreed to send Democratic Senator Sylvia Garcia to Washington to represent them. Congresswoman-Elect Garcia’s Senate District 6 seat will be filled in a special election.  The district has been represented by Congressman Gene Green since 1993.  We thank Congressman Green and his dedicated staff for their service and support and for always having an open door for HAR.

Texas State Senate

There were no changes–voters chose to return Senators Paul Bettencourt, Joan Huffman, Robert Nichols, and John Whitmire to represent them in the 86th Legislature, which convenes on January 8, 2019.

Texas House of Representatives

Republican Representatives Mike Schofield, District 132, and Gary Elkins, District 135, lost their re-election bids. In unofficial returns, Democrat Gina Calanni, an author, marathoner, and single mother of three, held a 97 vote lead over Rep. Schofield.  Jon E. Rosenthal, a mechanical engineer, won his first bid for public office with a three-point lead over Elkins.  We thank Representatives Schofield and Elkins for their service and look forward to working with Representatives-Elect Calanni and Rosenthal in the next legislative session.

Fort Bend County

Certified Financial Planner KP George of Sugar Land defeated Republican County Judge Robert Hebert, an HAR recommended candidate.

In Precinct 4, Democrat Ken DeMerchant defeated Republican County Commissioner James Patterson, who served as an auctioneer at several TREPAC fundraisers in Fort Bend County.

We thank Judge Hebert and Commissioner Patterson for their long-time friendship and support and look forward to working with Judge-Elect George and Commissioner-Elect DeMerchant.

Republican Harris County Judge Ed Emmett lost to Democrat Lina Hidalgo, a 27 year old Stanford University graduate and medical interpreter. We thank Judge Emmett for his decade of steady sensible leadership through storms and floods and congratulate Judge-Elect Hidalgo on her victory and look forward to working with her on issues of mutual interest.

Harris County Precinct 2 will be held by former Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia who defeated HAR recommended candidate Commissioner Jack Morman, a Republican.

Republican Precinct 4 Commissioner Jack Cagle won his re-election with 54% of the vote.

Montgomery County

HAR recommended candidates, Republicans Mark Keough for County Judge and Charlie Riley for County Commissioner, sailed to victory.

Missouri City

Neither Mayor Allen Owen or his challenger, Mayor Pro-Tem Yolanda Ford, garnered over 50% of the vote, therefore, pushing them into a Saturday, December 8, runoff election.

Likewise, incumbent Councilman Chris Preston and his challenger, Susan Soto, did not receive over 50% of the vote. They, too, will face off on December 8.

Vashaundra Edwards won the Councilmember At-Large Position 1 race overtaking incumbent Councilman Jerry Wyatt, HAR’s recommended candidate.

All election results are unofficial until canvassed.
