HAR members had the opportunity to attend the 2025 REALTORS® Legislative Meetings in Washington D.C. May 31 – June 5. HAR worked with our colleagues at Texas REALTORS® (TR) and the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) to achieve our collective advocacy goals.
In D.C., we had the opportunity to meet with our Congressional representatives and discuss legislative priorities, including the Uplifting First-Time Homebuyers Act (H.R. 3526) to increase the amount that can be withdrawn penalty-free from IRAs for a down payment on a first home, and the Association Health Plans Act (H.R. 2528/S. 1847) to provide REALTORS® with access to quality, affordable health care.
We would like to thank our NAR Federal Political Coordinator’s (FPC’s) for all their hard work in making this trip successful. The FPC program is one of the pillars of NAR’s bipartisan advocacy program. Through the program, NAR members from around the country are assigned to members of Congress from their district or state. They build personal relationships and help legislators and their staff understand the impact of policy decisions on the real estate industry and communities. Our FPC’s present on the trip included Shad Bogany – FPC to Congressman Al Green, Martha Beaudry – FPC to Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia, Vicki Fullerton – FPC to Congressman Dan Crenshaw, Tracy Henderson- FPC to Congressman Randy Weber, Deborah Spangler – FPC to Congressman Morgan Luttrell, Jo Ann Stevens – FPC to Congressman Troy Nehls, Troy Cothran – FPC to Congressman Brian Babin, Mike Mengden – FPC to Congressman Wesley Hunt, and Thomas Mouton – FPC to Congressional District 18.
We had a great time in D.C. and look forward to our continuing work with members of Congress!
