In the first quarter of 2025, Houston proudly welcomed a distinguished delegation from AMPI (Asociación Mexicana de Profesionales Inmobiliarios), Mexico’s largest real estate association, for a dynamic cultural and professional exchange that celebrated cross-border collaboration and economic connectivity.

The visit, which took place the first week of March, brought together real estate professionals primarily from the vibrant coastal city of Tampico, a long-standing Sister City of Houston. The delegation’s arrival underscored the deep ties between Texas and Mexico—ties that are not only economic but also cultural and civic in nature.

The goal of the Global Advisory Group has always been to foster the incredible relationships established by our original members. Today, we have the opportunity to build upon that foundation and continue growing through the thoughtful plan set in motion by those who came before us.

Strengthening Professional Ties

A highlight of the visit was a collaborative meeting with the Houston Association of Realtors® (HAR) Global Advisory Group, where participants shared best practices, discussed market trends, and explored opportunities for cross-border investment and partnership. The meeting was led by Jane Byrd, Chair of the HAR Global Advisory Group, and Shae Cottar, 2025 HAR Chair. Their leadership, along with those who served before them, underscored the importance of fostering international relationships in the real estate sector.

Embracing Civic Connections

In a demonstration of Houston’s warm hospitality and international outlook, representatives from Sister Cities of Houston hosted the AMPI visitors for an exclusive tour of Houston City Hall. The tour celebrated the longstanding connection between Tampico and Houston, and emphasized the important role sister city relationships play in promoting peace, prosperity, and people-to-people diplomacy.

Cultural Immersion at the Rodeo

No visit to Houston in March would be complete without a taste of its rich cultural heritage. The AMPI delegation was treated to an unforgettable experience at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. For several lucky guests, the rodeo visit included a special Grand Entry experience—an honor that offered them a front-row seat to one of Texas’ most beloved traditions. This cultural immersion provided the delegates with a deeper appreciation of Houston’s unique blend of urban sophistication and Texan tradition.

Economic Synergy Between Houston and Mexico

The visit also served as an opportunity to highlight the robust economic ties between Houston and Mexico, particularly in the real estate sector. Mexico is preparing to attract real estate investments estimated at over $32 billion in 2025, with sustained growth anticipated at 15% per year. The Tampico region, with its strategic location and economic vitality, plays a significant role in this growth. Houston, as a major hub for international trade and investment, continues to be a key partner in facilitating and benefiting from this economic synergy.

Building Bridges for the Future

This visit highlighted more than just the business of real estate—it served as a meaningful bridge between communities. Trade missions like this one foster understanding, open the door to new opportunities, and remind us that global collaboration starts at the local level. The enduring connection between Houston and multiple cities in Mexico, built on decades of friendship, mutual respect, and shared interests, continues to serve as a pillar of strength and cooperation. As our cities grow and evolve, so too does our commitment to working together—ensuring that relationships forged today will yield benefits for generations to come.

As the Global Advisory Group continues to grow and expand its reach, our goal remains to foster strong, strategic relationships across the globe.
