The Houston Association of REALTORS® is making headlines! Here’s a look at some of the media coverage our organization has received over the past few weeks.

HAR’s MLS Update for October 2010, reporting continued stability in pricing despite a fourth consecutive monthly decline in sales, generated coverage from mid- to late November in the following media outlets:

Examiner Newspapers
• Houston Business Journal (online and print editions)
• Houston Chronicle (online and print editions as well as Prime Property real estate blog)
• Houston Community Newspapers
• KHOU-TV (11 News)
• KPRC-TV (News 2 Houston)
• KRIV-TV (Fox 26 News)
• KTRK-TV (13 Eyewitness News)
• KUHF (Houston Public Radio)

HAR President & CEO Bob Hale was the featured “Idea Maker” in the November edition of Continental Airlines’ in-flight magazine, Continental, with a headline that read, “The real estate industry visionary sees reason to be optimistic.” The article received global visibility, as the publication is stocked aboard all the carrier’s domestic and international flights.

KTRH Radio anchors J.P. Pritchard and Lana Hughes conducted a live interview with HAR Chair Margie Dorrance for their large morning-drive audience on November 18 to discuss the local housing market and expectations for 2011.
HAR’s NextGen REALTOR® Group (NRG) garnered media attention in November when it was named the Young Professionals Network Chapter of the Year at the annual NAR convention in New Orleans. The story ran in REALTOR® magazine; the Houston Chronicle also reported the story prominently in the November 21 real estate section along with a write-up about the “20 Under 40 Rising Stars in Real Estate” awards. Two large color photos accompanied the Chronicle coverage.

On November 21, Houston Chronicle real estate columnist Jude Patronella reported on the election of the 2011 HAR Board of Directors, with Carlos P. Bujosa as incoming chairman.

HAR Chair Margie Dorrance was quoted in Inman News’ December 2 coverage of Zillow’s introduction of an agent rating tool, similar to the Client Experience Rating system that HAR rolled out two years ago. Said Margie: “HAR’s rating system has been extremely well received by both members and consumers. It’s a natural evolution for real estate information providers like Zillow to enable consumers to evaluate REALTOR® performance, and we think the move benefits the entire industry.”
