In a real estate market as large, fast-moving and data driven as the Greater Houston area, information is key. The Multiple Listing Service (MLS) is the source for all local real estate information.

Many people think the MLS is just a database, but it is much more than that. The MLS is actually the foundation of the market.

The MLS Powers Every Platform

From pricing a home to finding the perfect place, the MLS is the starting point for nearly every real estate transaction. It gives consumers and agents access to real-time information.

The MLS is the source for the data that powers Zillow, Homes.com and other real estate search portals and apps. In other words, if it’s online, it probably came from the MLS.

When you enter a listing into the HAR MLS, that information flows to dozens of consumer-facing platforms, putting your listing in front of thousands of potential buyers. Without the MLS, those listings don’t exist.

Data Accuracy Matters

The value of the MLS starts with data accuracy. A typo in a price, incorrect square footage or wrong listing status doesn’t just affect one listing on one website. It ripples across every site and every app pulling from our system. A single mistake or missing detail can create confusion, delay deals or mislead consumers.

When agents take the time to input complete and correct information, they’re not just helping themselves and their clients. They are supporting the credibility of the MLS. This is why it is important to make sure your listings are complete and correct.

Expanding Access Across Texas

Texas remains one of the top destinations for movers nationwide, and we are also continuing to see a surge of in-state movers. That’s why HAR has data share agreements with the San Antonio Board of REALTORS® and Unlock MLS in Austin. These agreements allow HAR MLS subscribers to access thousands of listings in those markets.

A data share with the North Texas Real Estate Information System (NTREIS), which covers the Dallas-Fort Worth area, is expected later this year. Once it goes live, HAR will be the only MLS in Texas with agreements with all three of these MLSs, and it will give HAR MLS subscribers access to 85% of all listings in Texas!

Innovative Tech Solutions

HAR continues to be a leader when it comes to technology in the real estate industry. Our Technology Team has developed tools specifically for our members. One of the biggest success stories is ShowingSmart, which was developed in-house with feedback from members. This showing platform is now the top choice for agents across the region. It’s fully integrated with the

MLS, easy to use and included at no extra cost for HAR MLS subscribers.

Beyond that, MLS subscribers also have access to a full suite of tools, including the HAR.com app, CMA reports, market stats, client reviews and more.

Your Competitive Advantage

HAR is all about giving agents what they need to succeed. That’s why we’re committed to investing in technology, building strong partnerships and making sure the data you rely on is accurate and up to date. When agents have the right tools, it really lets them focus on what they do best: taking care of their clients and building their business.
