Dear Houston REALTORS,

HISD is committed to raising academic achievement and preparing all of our students for college and meaningful careers. High-quality schools are an important factor for families looking to buy a home, and HISD has some of the best schools in the nation. We landed 93 schools on the latest National Center for Educational Achievement list of Higher Performing Schools—more than Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, and El Paso COMBINED. Many of our schools have also received recognition from the U.S. Department of Education, and publications including Newsweek and the Washington Post.

HISD is a district of choice, which means students can attend their neighborhood school or choose from a robust portfolio of Magnet and Vanguard programs, early childhood centers and charter schools.

We have series of tools to help you and your clients learn more about the schools in HISD.

Find Out About Renovations and Campus Construction Projects
Construction crews were hard at work this summer as dozens of HISD campuses underwent major facility upgrades – all made possible by an $805 million bond proposal that voters approved in 2007. HISD opened six new campuses at the beginning of the school year (Almeda, Frost, Lovett, DeChaumes, Berry, and Horn Elementary Schools) and completed renovations at 60 other campuses. A list of projects by campus is available on HISD’s Construction and Facilities website.

I hope you find these tools to be helpful in meeting the needs of your clients. On behalf of Superintendent Terry Grier and all of Team HISD, thank you for all you do to help spread the word about the great things happening in Houston’s schools.

Sincerely,

Michele Pola, Ed.D.
