The Houston Association of REALTORS® Board of Directors has approved changes to the HAR Bylaws. These Bylaws changes, if approved, shall be effective April 1, 2013. Please note the underlined sections are proposed additions to the Bylaws while the crossed-out phrases are proposed deletions.

A Special Membership Meeting to act on these Bylaws changes will be held on March 25, 2013 in the HAR Board Room, 3693 Southwest Freeway. All members are invited to attend. If you are unable to attend, you may sign and return the proxy form to the HAR office by noon, March 22, 2013. The proxy grants the 2013 Chairman the right to cast your vote in your absence.

PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO HAR BYLAWS:

ARTICLE XI – BOARD OF DIRECTORS is amended to add a new Section 15, as follows:

“Section 15.   VOTING.   Any motion to support an increase in fees, costs, assessments or taxes to property owners in the jurisdiction of HAR requires a 2/3 majority vote of the Board of Directors present and voting.”

Proposed Amendment to HAR Bylaws,  ARTICLE XVII—MEMBER INVOLVEMENT  Section 1.   ADVISORY GROUPS:
 
ARTICLE XVII – Member Involvement,  Section 1.  Advisory Groups, Subsection A is amended to read, as follows

“A.  APPOINTMENTS.   The Chairman shall appoint all advisory groups except those otherwise provided for herein with due consideration given to the overall diversity of appointees sufficient to represent the broadest possible cross section of the Association membership.  All advisory groups shall consist of a maximum of 25 members and shall have such duties functions and powers, as may be assigned to them by the Chairman or the Board of Directors except as otherwise provided in these By-Laws”
