March 3 was Primary Election Day across the state of Texas and voters turned out in a major way. More than 4.4 million Texans cast a ballot across the Republican and Democratic primaries, the most ever for a midterm election year. HAR Recommended Candidates in contested races had a strong showing, securing 13 victories and just three defeats, with one race headed to a runoff. Here is a breakdown of those results:

 

U.S. House of Representatives

  • District 2: Cong. Dan Crenshaw – Defeated with 41%
  • District 14: Cong. Randy Webber – Won with 89%
  • District 29: Cong. Sylvia Garcia – Won with 58%
  • District 36: Cong. Brian Babin – Won with 81%

Texas Senate

  • District 4: Brett Ligon – Won with 74%

Texas House of Representatives

  • District 3: Rep. Cecil Bell Jr. – Defeated with 45%
  • District 16: Rep. Will Metcalf – Won with 66%
  • District 27: Rep. Ron Reynolds – Won with 87%
  • District 76: Rep. Suleman Lalani – Won with 54%
  • District 85: Rep. Stan Kitzman – Defeated with 43%
  • District 138: Rep. Lacey Hull – Won with 71%
  • District 139: Rep. Charlene Ward Johnson – Won with 64%
  • District 144: Rep. Mary Ann Perez – Won with 64%
  • District 149: Rep. Hubert Vo – Advanced to Runoff with 37%

Fort Bend County

  • Commissioner Pct. 2: Comm. Grady Prestage – Won with 62%

Montgomery County

  • County Judge: Judge Mark Keough – Won with 51%
  • Commissioner Pct. 2: Comm. Charlie Riley – Won with 54%
