More new homes are hitting the market across Greater Houston, giving buyers more options and helping boost sales in many of the area’s most in-demand communities in the second quarter of 2026.
According to HAR’s latest Hottest Communities in the Houston Area report, Magnolia/1488 West led all communities in sales growth, with transactions rising 61.6% compared with the same quarter last year. The Huffman Area followed with a 58.2% increase, while Conroe Southwest posted a 38.0% gain. Dayton and Brookshire rounded out the top five, with sales climbing 36.6% and 33.3%, respectively.
New home construction played a key role in these gains, with many of the top 10 communities seeing a large share of sales from newly built homes.
Six of the top 10 communities reported average prices below the Houston-area average of $455,159, highlighting continued interest in more attainable markets, as cited in HAR’s June 2026 Housing Market Update.
“The communities seeing the most growth right now are the ones where buyers have choices,” said HAR Chair Theresa Hill with Compass RE Texas, LLC – Houston. “New construction is expanding options and helping more buyers find homes that align with their needs and budget. That’s a trend we expect to continue as new communities take shape across the region.”
The report also highlights the top performing luxury communities in the Greater Houston area, where homes are priced above $1 million. The Tanglewood Area recorded the largest year-over-year percentage increase in home sales for the second quarter in a row. There were 30 transactions in the second quarter of 2026, a 42.9% increase compared to the same time last year. The average home price was $2,306,919.
