As we head into the summer months, Houston’s housing market remains in a healthy place. Buyers have more choices, and we’re still seeing plenty of activity. The fast-paced market of the past few years has given way to something a little more balanced, which is good news for everyone. It’s encouraging to see the market continue to find its stride as we move into one of the busiest times of the year. You may read the latest Housing Market Update on pages 8–12.
We’re also seeing some encouraging news on affordability. HAR’s latest report found that more Houston-area households could afford a median-priced home in the first quarter than a year ago, thanks to lower mortgage payments and stabilizing prices. You may read more on pages 20–21.
Some of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had at HAR started with getting involved. Whether you’re passionate about MLS, technology, communications, government affairs, professional development, or helping shape the future of the association, there’s an advisory group for you. It’s a great way to meet other members, share your ideas, and make a real impact on the organization. Applications for 2027 advisory groups are now open through July 10. Learn more and find the group that’s right for you on pages 26–31.
One of the most important ways REALTORS® can protect our industry is by investing in TREPAC. The advocacy victories we often talk about don’t happen by accident. They happen because REALTORS® have a strong voice at the local, state and national levels. There are several upcoming TREPAC events that make it easy to support the cause while connecting with fellow REALTORS®, and you can learn more on page 32.
