If you’ve ever thought about stepping up your leadership game in this industry, your business, or your community, I strongly encourage you to apply for the Texas REALTORS® Leadership Program (TRLP). It’s one of the best investments you can make in your professional growth. In fact, all six of HAR’s current executive officers are TRLP graduates (and yes—Class of 2012 is still the best!). If you’re ready to challenge yourself and expand your leadership skills, this is your sign to go for it. You can learn more and find application details on pages 26-29. Trust me, you won’t regret it!

On the market front, Houston is continuing to move toward a more balanced pace. We started the year with steady buyer interest, even as inventory has grown and homes are taking a bit longer to sell. You may read the full MLS statistical report on pages 8-12.

I’m also encouraged by what we’re seeing on affordability. HAR’s latest Housing and Rental Affordability Report shows more Houston-area households can afford a median-priced home than this time last year. With modest price adjustments and some easing in mortgage rates, the monthly payment picture is moving in the right direction for many buyers. Take a closer look on pages 20–21.

If going global is on your radar, don’t miss the upcoming HAR Global webinar. It’s a great primer on what to know before your first international transaction—from spotting legitimate opportunities to using the Global Information Exchange (GIE) to build credibility. Learn more on page 42.

And finally, mark your calendars—there’s a strong lineup of HAR events ahead, including HAR Global Day, H-Town Day and much more! In this business, success doesn’t just happen… it happens when you show up. These events are one of the best ways to grow your network, sharpen your skills and stay connected to what’s happening in our market. See what’s coming up on page 31.
