National Voter Registration Day is September 20!
With the November midterms and local elections just around the corner, now is the time to register to vote!
In Texas, registering to vote differs depending on where you are moving from. If you were already a registered voter in the State of Texas, you can now update your voter registration information completely online. However, if you were previously registered to vote in another state or were never registered to vote, you must complete a voter registration application and mail it to your local county voter registrar’s office. Along with registering to vote yourself, it is important to let your clients know how they can register to vote. Doing this will help your clients avoid showing up to the polls to vote without being properly registered.
This year, National Voter Registration Day is September 20! According to the official National Voter Registration Day website, the holiday was first celebrated in 2012 and since then almost 4.7 million Americans have registered to vote on that day. HAR has registered as a partner for National Voter Registration Day again this year, so be sure to stay tuned to our social media for information on local activities. For more information on the holiday visit https://nationalvoterregistrationday.org/.
Election Day is November 8 and the last day to register to vote in the upcoming election is October 11. For all statewide voter registration resources in Texas visit https://www.votetexas.gov/register-to-vote/.
Once you have filled out your application, you will need to mail it to your county voter registrar’s office. Visit the following links for more information on where to mail your application or to contact your county voter registrar for more information.
