HAR’s April 2022 MLS Market Update reported that interest rates – still comparatively low at the time – had inspired a buying frenzy that pushed sales volume and pricing to new record highs while plunging inventory to record lows. The Houston Chronicle cited HAR’s 2022 Consumer Sentiment and Home Affordability Survey in a June 21 story about development of a large rental community in Brazoria County. Reporter Marissa Luck explained that rising home prices and mortgage interest rates have redirected many would-be buyers toward rental properties

The Leader News cited zip code-specific HAR MLS data in its June 20 story about a decline in local home sales in May. 

HAR Immediate Past Chairman Richard Miranda discussed the dynamics of the fiercely competitive Houston housing market in a Spanish-language interview with 45/Univision on June 17.

HAR Chair Jennifer Wauhob was the featured guest on the Business Journals’ “Texas Business Minds” podcast on June 14, hosted by Houston Business Journal Managing Editor Jonathan Adams. The episode began with a conversation about Jennifer’s real estate career and morphed into a discussion about HAR’s ShowingSmart service, rental scams and current market trends.

Houston Chronicle real estate reporter Rebecca Schuetz interviewed Jennifer for an in-depth story about rental scams that have become pervasive across Greater Houston. Jennifer discussed HAR’s partnership with Crime Stoppers and Clear Channel Outdoor to boost awareness about fraudulent rental activity. The story published on May 29. 

Jennifer was also featured in a May 26 article in The Real Deal, offering consumers advice for navigating the current turbulent real estate market. The story contained MLS data from HAR’s Weekly Activity Snapshot (WAS).
