The Houston Association of REALTORS® is making headlines! Here’s a look at some of the media coverage our organization has received over the past few weeks.

HAR’s July 2013 MLS news release, reporting a 26th straight month of positive sales that also featured a slight increase in inventory, generated coverage from mid- to late August in the following media outlets:

• CultureMap Houston
• Examiner Newspapers
• Houston Business Journal (online and print editions)
• Houston Chronicle (online and print editions as well as Prime Property real estate blog)
• Houston Community Newspapers
• KHOU-TV (11 News)
• KPRC-TV (Local 2)
• KRIV-TV (Fox 26 News)
• KROI-FM (News 92)
• KTRH (NewsRadio 740)
• KTRK-TV (13 Eyewitness News)
• KUHF (Houston Public Radio)

HAR Board member Veronica Mullenix shared her expertise in the Katy market with The (Katy) Rancher reporter Zach Haverkamp for his August 29 story about how real estate development is extending into areas north and west of Katy/I-10.

On August 30, the Houston Chronicle reported on HAR’s newly elected 2014 Board of Directors, featuring a color photo of incoming Chair Chaille Ralph.

KTRK-TV/13 Eyewitness News became the first Houston media outlet to receive HAR’s newly developed Neighborhood “Hotness” Index. Consumer reporter Jeff Ehling interviewed HAR Chair-elect Chaille Ralph about how the index was developed and spoke to Board member Tim Surratt about what is actually making homes in some neighborhoods sell better than others.

HAR facilitated REALTOR® interviews for KRIV-TV/Fox 26 News reporter Greg Groogan, who wanted to localize a national report stating that black home ownership stands at 43 percent – its lowest level since 1995. His story aired in the 5 and 9 p.m. news broadcasts on September 10.

These stories and more are available in the HAR Online Newsroom at www.har.com/newsroom as well as in HAR Connect.
