We’re hearing some confusion around TREC’s license renewal process, so we wanted to help them clarify a few important details.
You can renew your license before completing your Continuing Education requirements, but that does not mean your CE is complete. In some cases, TREC’s system may even show that no CE is required after renewal. This can be misleading.
If you reach your license expiration date without finishing your CE:
- TREC may charge a $200 CE deferral fee
- You’ll be given an additional 60 days to complete your CE
Even if you’ve renewed your license, you are still responsible for completing your CE before your original expiration date to avoid the CE deferral fee.
If you’re unsure about your CE status, we recommend double-checking your requirements in TREC’s new REALM portal or contacting TREC directly.
