Dynamic List of Available Resources for HAR Members Amid the COVID-19 Pandemic (Updated June 23, 2020 at 10:55 a.m.)

On March 31, 2020 Texas Governor Greg Abbott, ordered the closing of all Texas schools until May 4. Read the full executive order HERE

The Houston Independent School District will remain closed, providing online instruction until further notice. In addition to the federal guidelines regarding social distancing to help stop the spread of Coronavirus, this decision comes in response to the updated order given by Governor Greg Abbott to close all Texas schools until May 4.

HISD is providing educational programming through HIDS @ H.O.M.E. TV. Segments will be in English and Spanish and will broadcast on HISD-TV (Comcast Channel 18 and Uverse Channel 99), as well as online via www.HoustonISD.org/LiveTV. The HISD @ H.O.M.E. distance learning plan includes curriculum by grade level and subject matter. Houston Area schools are providing free breakfast and lunches for students. You can find the nearest location to you at the Houston Food Bank website.  

Scholastic has set up FREE TOOLS to aid in home schooling.  

We are Teachers has a list of free online learning resources to assist parents in home schooling.  

The Houston Zoo is coming to you through Facebook Live and webcams on the daily. Check out what the animals are doing on their Facebook Live show every weekday at 11 a.m. You can see past series HERE
