Houston Association of REALTORS® Welcomes Its 2019 Board of Directors

Shannon Cobb Evans with Heritage Texas is New Chair

REALTOR® Celebration, HAR’s festive event, took place December 13 at the Houston Country Club, and featured the much-anticipated swearing in of the 2019 HAR Board of Directors and incoming Chair, Shannon Cobb Evans, of Heritage Texas Properties.

HAR President & CEO Bob Hale administered the oath of office for the new board members while Rita Blevins, HAR Director of Professional Development, swore in Shannon. Robin Mueck of Heritage Texas Properties presented a City of Houston proclamation to Shannon, announcing that December 13 had been named “Shannon Cobb Evans Day.”

Along with Shannon, the 2019 HAR Executive Committee is comprised of Chairman-elect John Nugent, Vice Chairs Richard Miranda and Jennifer Wauhob, Secretary/Treasurer Cathy Trevino, and Immediate Past Chair Kenya Burrell Van-Wormer. Serving as members of HAR’s 2019 governing body are Diana Ayers, Ward Arendt, Katrina Barnes, John Braun, Chance Brown, Troy Cothran, Mark Dimas, Nancy Furst, Stephanie Gordon, Katie Kossev, Krista Lancton, Thomas Mouton, Robin Mueck, Michelle Posey, Deborah Spangler, and Tim Surratt.

REALTOR® Celebration also honored four outstanding real estate professionals for their exceptional dedication and community stewardship. Mario Arriaga, with First Group and Jo Ann Stevens, with Lane Group were honored as 2018 REALTORS® of the Year. Martha Castex-Tatum, with Berkshire Hathaway HomesServices Anderson Properties and Brenda Stardig, with Stardig Patrick Real Esate Inc., received the 2018 John E. Wolf Community Service Award.

HAR President and CEO Bob Hale saluted outgoing HAR Chair Kenya Burrell Van-Wormer for her tireless commitment to the Association and the real estate industry throughout 2018. He narrated a retrospective about his year of service featuring slides from events she attended around the country on behalf of HAR.

Guests were also treated to a video about Shannon’s personal and professional journey, culminating with her career as a REALTOR® and, soon, chair of the 39,000-member HAR.
