The HAR International Advisory Group and AMPI Monterrey Outbound Educational Program 2016

Earlier this year members of the HAR international advisory group along with other TAR members traveled to Monterrey, N.L. Mexico for the first out bound program hosted by AMPI-Monterrey chapter members. AMPI is the equivalent to NAR in Mexico.

During this three-day event, members were able to gain knowledge of the legal issues in the real estate market abroad, an overview of available loans for national and foreign investors along with a brief summary of the industrial real estate market. Members also learned of the opportunities available in the leasing markets, shared the uphill battle our AMPI colleagues face on a daily basis and hosted a forum to compare the real estate laws between Mexico and United States.

During the discussion, we shared the laws we abide by in the U.S. A. and the importance of the licensing act, regulations, consumer protection, and the benefits of having a real estate license. The meetings were educational and very informative. Along with the meetings, we went on property tours, networked with AMPI members, and visited important landmarks.

The biggest takeaway of the meetings was having a HAR presence in the installation of the new AMPI president Gerardo Contreras. Most importantly, we had an opportunity to meet with state legislators about the initiative of the licensing act. Through our meetings with the state legislators, we shared why we believe it is important for real estate agents to hold a real estate license and how it will benefit the state, the consumer, and the real estate sector. It was a phenomenal experience being part of history and the opportunity to support our AMPI members in such a great cause, not only for the real estate sector but most importantly for consumer protection.
