I recently asked the HAR Board of Directors and Advisory Group Chairs how many had participated in the Texas REALTORS® Leadership Program (TRLP). The hands sprang up with enthusiasm across the room. This is one program that has genuinely helped with providing a new group of leaders for the association, which leads to a better association for us all. If you would like to be more involved or know someone who would, please read here to find out how to apply for this year’s TRLP class. As a graduate myself, I cannot tell you how beneficial it was to me and everyone else in my class.
We recently launched the INRIX Drive Time feature on HAR.com, which allows you and consumers to search for homes for sale within a defined commute time from your office, school, place of worship or other point of interest. This is perhaps the coolest thing on HAR.com, which is saying something. I encourage you to “give it a test drive” and see for yourself. You may read more about it here.
Education is the key to making sure we have the best possible REALTORS® to help the people of the greater Houston area buy, sell or lease a property. The Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) designation is one of the most prestigious designations you can earn. You may read more about the upcoming course and what you will learn here. I can tell you from personal experience that it has been invaluable to my career.
Once again, I want to invite each of you to join us as we bus our way to Austin to make our collective REALTOR® voice heard. Each legislative session, thousands of REALTORS® from across the state join together for this important event. On top of being able to communicate our concerns to our elected leaders, we also have a lot of fun. You may find the website to register to get on the bus here. We need you with us.
The annual CCIM forecast competition provides great insight into what the commercial leaders of our industry believe will happen during the coming year. The 2015 competition was no different. As a quick hint to what you will read here, we are all very fortunate to be living and working in the greater Houston area.
Until next month,
HAR Chair of the Board
