HAR in the News

The Houston Association of Realtors® is making headlines! Here’s a look at some of the media coverage our organization has received over the past few weeks.

HAR’s MLS Update for January 2010, reporting a boost in Houston’s luxury home market, generated coverage in February by the following media outlets:

  • Examiner Newspapers
  • Houston Business Journal (online and print editions)
  • Houston Chronicle (online and print editions as well as Prime Property real estate blog)
  • Houston Community Newspapers
  • KHOU-TV (11 News)
  • KPRC-TV (News 2 Houston)
  • KTRK-TV (13 Eyewitness News)
  • KUHF (Houston Public Radio)

HAR provided data for a story that ran in the Tribune Newspapers on February 15 about the vitality of the Kingwood/northeast Houston housing market. The article, entitled “Real estate market improves,” was designed to clarify information that the Houston Chronicle misreported a couple of weeks earlier suggesting a dramatic decline in that area’s median price. In fact, year-over-year pricing held steady.

In a front-page story published on February 19, the Houston Business Journal reported on HAR.com’s new Historic Districts tool, developed through collaboration between HAR and the City of Houston to help consumers find homes for sale within the city’s 16 designated historic districts.

HAR Vice Chairman Danny Frank shared his expertise on the Houston housing market with Associated Press real estate reporter Adrian Sainz for a national article published on February 26 with the headline “Home sales up year-over-year in South.”

HAR facilitated Houston REALTOR® interviews for Associated Press real estate reporter Adrian Sainz for his national story spotlighting consumer response to the tax credit. The story was published online as well as in print publications around the U.S. on February 28.

KTRK-TV (13 Eyewitness News) consumer reporter Jeff Ehling interviewed HAR Vice Chairman Danny Frank about the rapidly approaching homebuyer tax credit deadline for a story that aired the evening of March 4.

These stories and more are chronicled in the HAR Online Newsroom at www.har.com/newsroom.
